What: A four-day SUPBALL tournament on the water, hosted by Felons Manly, SUPBALL Manly and Manly Lifestyle Club

Where: North Harbour, Manly
When: Weekends of 11–12 April and 18–19 April, 10am–3pm each day
Think netball meets water polo meets rugby, all played on stand-up paddleboards in the harbour. The Felons Cup is a round-robin tournament across two weekends, with two courts running, refs keeping things moving and a festival vibe on the water. Teams of 5–8 can jump in for a single day ($50pp) or commit to the full series ($30pp per day) and chase the leaderboard. Costumes are encouraged, beginners are welcome, and there's $3,000 cash plus beers and merch up for grabs. Even if you're not playing, it's worth rocking up to watch. 18+ only.

ICYMI

Manly Wharf getting a food hall: The Artemus Group has lodged a DA to turn the Manly Wharf retail arcade into an artisanal food hall, with fresh produce tenancies, a new skylight, upgraded lighting and better ferry waiting areas. If approved, it'll trade 6am to 1am, seven days a week.
Plus Fitness opened a second Manly gym… 350m from the first one: Sounds ridiculous, but if you've ever tried getting a squat rack at peak hour, it makes sense. The new spot is on Pittwater Road with the same no-frills setup, and your membership gets you into both.
Guide Dogs NSW is looking for puppy raisers on the Beaches: If you've ever wanted a dog but needed a 12-month trial run, this might be your moment. Guide Dogs needs local volunteers to raise future guide dog pups from eight weeks old, with all vet costs and gear covered.

MANLY FROM THE PAST

Christmas Eve 1914. A crowd gathers on Freshwater Beach to watch a tall Hawaiian man paddle a heavy wooden board into the waves, stand up, and ride one for 200 yards. He even stood on his head on the board. Most of the onlookers had never seen anything like it. His name was Duke Kahanamoku, an Olympic gold medallist swimmer and he'd built the 8-foot, 40kg board himself from a plank of sugar pine because he was under the impression surfboards were banned in Australia
